A New York bankruptcy judge has formally approved the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester’s $246.4 million settlement with survivors of abuse claims. The agreement was reached in part due to the diligent work of Tim Burns and Jesse Bair in reaching a $120 million deal with CNA Insurance Company, believed to be the single largest settlement with an insurer in the ongoing series of diocesan bankruptcy filings nationwide. Collectively, the Burns Bair team secured more than $191 million in total insurance funding for the Rochester plan.
